About us

Scriba PR is a B2B communications agency that exists to ensure complex businesses with intricate messages can eloquently communicate their stories and boost their brand presence. Meanwhile, sister agency The Bigger Boat offers integrated marketing services, supporting businesses in achieving their online and offline goals using creative design, strategic SEO, content marketing and everything in between.

This is a great opportunity to join our group of agencies during an exciting period of growth.

The role

Compelling copy is at the heart of both businesses. We’re on the hunt for an experienced copywriter to lend their wordsmithery to Scriba PR in the first instance, but the successful candidate will also write for The Bigger Boat where needed. With fluidity between the two businesses, this is a role that will provide the right person the opportunity to really stretch their creative capabilities. You’ll be required to research, write and edit copy for our combined and expansive roster of B2B clients, telling their complex stories, and turning your hand to any and every type of content to position them front and centre of their industries, raise their profiles through thought-leadership pieces and help them build strong relationships with their customers. You’ll be unfazed by technical topic matter, fanatical about the detail, and capable of adapting writing style to suit any brief.

The day to day

You’ll be tasked with creating engaging and persuasive copy for various marketing channels, including website content, blog articles, social media, press releases, features and emails. You’ll be comfortable with humanising complex technical information to craft insightful stories, having immersed yourself in the sectors we work in (environmental, healthcare, technology, architecture and manufacturing, to name a few).

You’ll support the wider comms team with industry news and trends monitoring, liaise on campaigns, and participate where needed in client meetings.

We have a wholly collaborative environment, which means you’ll work alongside directors, as well as account managers, executives and fellow copywriters — plus ‘the crew’ at The Bigger Boat — to ensure we’re delivering intelligent, tailored copy that resonates with our intended audiences.

The skills you’ll need

You’ll have excellent written skills and the highest standards when it comes to attention to detail – all this, underpinned with bags of creativity, means you’re a go-to for engaging, accurate and unique copy that converts. You’ll ideally have experience writing for a range of sectors and the ability to vary tone and style across different accounts.

You’ll be part of a team meticulous in its copywriting offering and will be required to proofread and edit content to uphold our high levels of quality, style and tone.

Your ability to manage multiple projects is testament to your first-class organisational skills.

It will help if you have a familiarity with SEO best practice or at least an understanding of how optimising content can impact digital visibility.

Other professional ‘plus points’ include:

  • A degree (or equivalent qualification) in English, journalism or creative writing

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Personality traits we look for include:

  • Enthusiasm, passion and pride in your writing

  • A self-motivator with an abundance of initiative

  • A great communicator (face to face, on the phone and via email)

  • Committed to development (personal and professional)

  • Efficient, organised and time conscious

  • Loyal and honest

  • Willing to support colleagues and get stuck in

The perks

Scriba is big on employee relations — as well as a great starting salary and flexible working as standard, we offer a host of benefits that we like to shout about, too. For example:

  • A healthcare cash plan — including 24/7 mental health counselling and GP service

  • Your birthday off ‘for free’

  • A paid leave ‘digital detox’ day

  • A day of paid leave per month for volunteering

  • 6 ‘spark’ development days per year

  • Mentoring with an external personal and professional development coach

Plus, a number of 'outside the box' rewards/treats, all from our vibrant office in a converted textiles mill — with private breakout/creative space available, plus free parking, discounted gym membership, on-site spa, deli, and hair/beauty salons.

Why Scriba?

Working across the globe – with a client roster that includes trailblazers from sectors including technology, engineering, the environment, and construction – our down-to-earth team understands the complex worlds our clients operate in.

Our campaigns are results-driven, and colleagues listen to our – extremely varied – client base to deliver campaigns that will increase market share, help launch new products or services, attract or retain staff, or position a company for takeover, to name just a few.

Collectively, we have a real flair for what we do, with a rich blend of skills and talent that complement each other. We’re a team that sees the solutions, not the problems – and makes sure that every word counts. Meet the Scriba collective, here.

We’ll often refer to ourselves as ‘the critical friend’ – being honest means we say it like it is and do the right thing, rather than being ‘yes men’. We like to call it Scriba sense. For example, we:

  • Helped build an employment law brand for sale

  • Assisted in raising a seven-figure investment in a leading martech brand

  • Developed a ‘viral’ social media campaign for a telecoms leader

  • Reworked an entire technical client’s website in under 24 hours

  • Increased website traffic by 344% for a European commercial interiors expert.

Whether we’re raising the profile of an industry’s best-kept secret or positioning an established niche brand for fast growth, we deliver powerful pieces of content that work — constantly guided by our four key principles, known as Scriba soul

  • Smart in our delivery.

  • Optimistic in our outlook.

  • Uncompromising in business.

  • Listen first.

Don’t just take our word for it. Connect with us on Instagram to get a feel for who we are, and what we do.
